Short brief

"Make a game in 48 hours, with the theme "Transmission". The theme reveal clip at the end of the GGJ18 video showed radio towers, synapses, cars, gears, and different types of communications, giving a few ideas of the many ways this word can be interpreted"

What is No Ghosts, Demons Talk?

Fast-paced management game where you play as a medium to communicate with ghosts for clients. As clients come in, you'll commune with a ghost through the Ouija board, interfere with the Ouija board if the ghost spells bad words, while also lighting candles, and feeding rune stones to a cauldron. Do so correctly and the ghost will happily answer the client, do not and a demon may scare away the client instead.

Responsibilities

  • Design & scripted the main mechanic of the game, the Ouija board

  • Improvise 2D game art, with the limitations of a game jam 

Challenges

  • Managing short deadlines, and working long hours

  • Creating a game with limited resources

Achievements

  • Sharing C#, and other game development knowledge within the team

  • Completing strict, time-boxed tasks

  • Rapid researching and concepting, to create a prototype we could test early

  • Designing clever solutions to the limitations of the team, like photo bashing art, because we had no artist
